Indian people celebrates a number of festivals belongs to different cultures and religions but the festival which make all Indian to be proud on their country, are National Festivals.
India celebrates three National festival : Republic Day, Independence Day, Gandhi Jayanti. These festival are
celebrated for the Nation only. On Republic Day and Independence Day, there are formal events,
including a march-past and flag-hoisting in all the state capitals, district headquarters, corporations and municipalities, panchayats…

Independence Day: Independence Day, August 15, 1947 when India achieved freedom from British rule. It is celebrated with flag hoisting ceremonies and cultural programs in the state capitals. The Prime Minister's speech at the Red Fort in Delhi is the major highlight. All Government Organisations have a holiday as 15th August is a National holiday . In the capital New Delhi most of the Government Offices are lit up. In all the cities around the country the Flag Hoisting Ceremony is done by politicians belonging to that constituency.

Republic Day:
Republic day is celebrated on 26th January every year in India. The major reason behind the celebration of 26th January as Republic Day of India is that on 26th January, 1950 India became truly sovereign state because constitute of India came into force first time on this day. Other reason behind the celebration of Republic Day is routed in Indian national congress’s decision to celebrate this day as Republic day of India every year during the Lahore session. From 1950, Indians are observing 26 January as Republic day of India. On this day, whole nation remains on holiday and people of India salute the sovereignty of India by hoisting Indian Flag. This day is celebrated at different levels and in all parts of India.

Gandhi Jayanti: Gandhi Jayanti is a national holiday celebrated in India to mark the occasion of the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, the "Father of the Nation". It is celebrated on October 2, every year. It is one of the three official declared National Holidays of India and is observed in all its states and union territories.
